My Jacksonville Christmas

The 2009 Jacksonville Christmas Tree taken by me

I spent Christmas with my parents in Florida. Now, I know what you're thinking..."Wow, Robin was in Florida where it's sunny and everybody gets to wear shorts." Stop that conversation right now! My parents live in Jacksonville, so the weather on average was 55 degrees during the day and around 30 degrees at night (during this year's visit). Thank goodness I packed cords/jeans and turtlenecks/sweaters. It didn't snow this year, but it has in the past.

I love my family's Christmas traditions: My mom or I read from Luke or Matthew before my dad plays Santa and hands out everyone's Christmas gifts. Any bows taken off gifts are proudly worn on our clothes. Hmm, I was the only one wearing bows this year. Dinner is usually around 4pm and dessert is ALWAYS mom's homemade apple pie with vanilla ice cream. Of course, CNN is always on the TV, since we are CNN junkies!

I now volunteer to put together anything that needs batteries or assembly. (My parents are older now & it's kinda fun doing this for them, since they always did this for me when I was a kid). The day after Christmas, we usually go on a day trip. This year, we went to St. Augustine and walked around. Boy, was it some kinda cold, but we had a fabulous time for the 2 hours we were there. We also play Scrabble and talk a whole lot of smack...especially my Dad. My mom is the Scrabble Queen! This year's Scrabble game was Scrabble Slam and I won the most games, but mom was right behind me with wins. Dad declared that from now on we play regular Scrabble. LOL.

Overall, my friends...it was a great Christmas...with mom and dad and in Jacksonville.

Ciao!

  1. Awww. Your family Christmas sounds great. I miss the good ole lunch-time Scrabble games.
