Celebration Sunday

This past Sunday, I decided to attend the annual Chinese New Year parade in downtown Washington, DC. This would be my first time attending and I was excited! Since I arrived an hour early, I decided to go to the National Portrait Gallery. What a great choice that was...I viewed 3 amazing exhibits: Struggle for Justice; One Life: Echoes of Elvis; and From FDR to Obama: Presidents on Time. I even purchased a great card game concerning notable black women in history at the museum gift shop.

The Chinese New Year parade was fun and lasted for 30 minutes. I found a great spot near the Chinese arch (which is the world's largest single span) and watched the parade.

Murphy's Law came into play, just when I was about to take a great picture of the dancing tiger...my camera froze & another spectator's head blocked my shot. Darn! Oh, well. I still took some decent shots. Enjoy and Happy Year of the Tiger! Roar

  1. Oh, I'd wanted to go to this but I was out of town this weekend. Looks really cool from your pictures though. I'm sorry I missed it.
