Friends

A big sunshine "WELCOME" to everyone who's stopped by. I never thought I would develop a blog, but sometimes you are lead by a HIGHER POWER and you have to follow through. Now I know that statement will cause varied reactions from everyone reading this. And that's ok. Let's face it, we all have something to say about everything in life. A day doesn't go by that we are not reflecting about some topic, something or someone. The aim of my blog is to write about a specific topic with a short story and have others share their views. I'm only writing about positive things. So, after you read the topic for the week, reflect for a moment and then post a POSITIVE comment. The only rule--Negativity is not allowed.

Friendship

My dad has 4 best friends; 1 that he's known for over 65 years and 3 that he's known for 50 years. His friend for over 65 years grew up with him in the Tidewater Area. They talk about everyday. He met his other 3 friends while in the Air Force. Every year they get together to play cards, talk about their Air Force days in Maine/Canada or go on vacation with their wives. Oh, and while in the Air Force, they formed a singing group called the "Majestics". I am proud to say that 2 of my best friends and I attended their concert in Sept-Iles, Quebec, Canada in 2000. And yes, they have their own music CDs and fans! No matter where they go, they can be found singing...on a cruise ship, at a football game or even the airport.

I have 4 best friends and I feel blessed by GOD to have them in my life. They have seen me through happy, sad and crazy events. They make life interesting. When was the last time you let your best friend(s) know that you are grateful for having them in your life? And I'm not talking about poking them on Facebook or twittering on Twitter.

  1. YES, there is nothing like a dear, dear friend. Especially one who's known you for a long, long time. To share joys with. And they can remind us of how strong we are, too. In such an instant society (loved your FB/twitter comment) it's so grounding to still be connected with those people who knew you 'back when.' They are like an anchor. When life gets as crazy, that person is such a God-send... in EVERY aspect of that phrase. : )

  2. Robin,

This is a very good topic. You are lucky to have four good friends more or less one in my case at this time. Keep up the inspirational words. Yes, "It takes Team Work to Make the Dream Work". :-)

    Peace,

    Aaron
