Remembering...

Well. I had no intention of writing an entry today concerning the passing of Michael Jackson; however, that voice said "Just write a little something, something."

I classify myself as a Michael Jackson fan in the very small sense of the word. Growing up I was a huge fan of the Jackson 5. One of my favorite songs was Rockin Robin. Hmm, I wonder why? I can remember dancing with my mom and dad to their music as we did Saturday chores, watching the Jackson 5 cartoon on Saturday mornings and dancing during their tv variety show. Additionally, I remember waiting for the airing of the Thriller and Remember the Time videos on MTV and talking about them in school the next day.

There is no dispute...Michael Jackson was blessed as a music genius, innovator and trailblazer. He will be missed, but his musical legacy will live on.

  1. Robin, I was gripped by the sudden-ness of it. I actually don't own any MJ works, but have found myself jamming to a few faves in the past day or so. It's undeniable his contributions, which as I'm hearing interviews from early on in his career surpass just 'music.' They also included a lot of barrier-breaking 'firsts.'

No matter how 'big' or 'small' we may feel in this great big world. Our physical time on it is finite. But the impact of our gifts, if we have the courage to pursue and share them, is INfinite.

'Sad for the passing of anyone. Always a quiet reminder, a gentle nudge to the rest of us.... to live.
