Growing up I was a tennis junkie! I played tennis, I went to tennis classics with my mom and dad at Madison Square Garden & I watched the The French Open and Wimbledon every summer. For Halloween one year, I was a tennis player representing all the best women tennis players...Althea Gibson, Billie Jean King, Martina Navratilova & Chris Everett. I wrote about the history of tennis for a high school English term paper. I had a tennis racket with my initials embossed on it. I knew the rankings of the male & female tennis players. My favorite male tennis players were Ivan Lendel and Yannik Noah. Boy, I was tennis obsessed!
Now let me tell you about my tennis world now...I haven't played tennis in over a decade. I have no idea where my tennis racket is. (My dad would always borrow mine, so there is a chance he has it or it's missing in action). The last time I played, I was rusty with a capital "R". I still keep up with the sport on the fringes, but not like I need a 12 step program.
Anyway...for the past 3 years, I always think about going to the Legg Mason Tennis Classic near Rock Creek Park or going to Wimbledon. Well, this year, I decided to stop thinking about it & go to the Legg Mason Classic. Let me tell ya...I'm going on the first day of the tournament (August 1st) & my seats are AWESOME. Tickets for the 1st day are $10. I can't wait. I received my tickets in yesterday's mail. Now, I need a tennis outfit and a pair of classic Tretorns to wear. Opps, the tennis junkie in me is starting to resurface. Oh, well!
